Payne’s Prairie Preserve is Perfection!!!

Micanopy, FL  June 8-10th

We arrived Monday night after driving for over an hour in one horrendous thunderstorm after another. Talking about “Trial by Rain!” Dad did a great job while I mostly slept. I found it strange here since there was so little grass, but lots of tiny leaves and pine needles that I kept losing my ball in them. It smelled great though!!!

It was a tight fit coming through the gates

We were deep in the woods here

Don helped us understand how to back our trailer into our spot and the hook up process. Before we were finished, we were rained on again. I love the rain, but dad and mom don't seem as impressed!
Thankfully, Lori served her fabulous cabbage rolls for an incredible dinner! It’s going to be hard to compete with that meal! I was bummed because they didn't share much.

This morning, we were busy trying to figure out how the various features of our new tiny home works. Mom finally got me out for a longer walk, working on my training along with making time for ball chasing.

Since it’s wasn’t very nice out, we enjoyed our social distancing in the William’s elegant RV & dinner in our trailer since we have the bigger indoor table.

Tuesday we went into Micanopy, FL. According to the Huffington Post it’s one of the top 12 cutest small towns. It turns out Micanopy was founded by Levy, a Moroccan Jew who traveled here in the 1920’s and fell in love with the area. Sadly for us, we will have to return on the weekend when all the darling antique and gift stores are open.

I liked it here because there was more grass to sniff, but they were very snooty and wouldn't let me into their shops.

However, we enjoyed a delicious “Coffee and Cream” homemade chicken salad, Nathan’s chili dogs, chips and beers while listening to the lovely folksy musical duo of “Chuck and Cat”.  They shared some tiny bites...YUM!

Payne’s Prairie Preserve wetlands in its EcoPassage were beautiful, with acres of tall yellow water lilies in bloom throughout. Wish the sun was shining for better photos for mom.

After the adults short Happy Hour and my dinner at our trailer, Mike and Don picked up Blue Sky Highway pizza and salad!!! It smelled Fabulous!!! But, they only shared a tiny bite of crust!!!

Mom and dad told me, that like traveling with their trawler, Moondance on the Loop; bed time was early.

Mom put coverings on all the furniture to protect it from my nails
